After work, is what determines your future! Spend one hour per day doing these 5 things and your life will change forever!

You finish work at 6 pm, go to bed at 12 midnight.
Within these six hours, how do you spend them?
Watching TV?
In fact, the activities you do between 6 am and 12 midnight,
the importance of it is beyond your imagination.
Too many people believe that,
your career is determined by the 8 hours of hard work and effort you put at work,
and your future and career progression depend on the boss and the company.
But the reality is that for most people, this thing, you are on your own…..

Read on…

“Cultivation”, it’s forever dependent by yourself.
If you found yourself not progressing in life,
you cannot blame and put the responsibility on your company for not grooming you.

1. What you do every night is important
My major in college was marketing, but I expect to become a designer.
So I practiced day and night,
picking up some freelance work to improve my design skills.
It took me a long time.
When I became a boss, I no longer need to involve myself in design work,
So I went back to the Marketing field.
Every day, when my children are sleeping,
I began learning to gain more knowledge, this again took me a long time,
But I begin to realise my returns.

If I rely on my working hours to gain skills,
then I will never have become a creative director and a product manager,
or like today, teaching MBA students on Marketing.
What I rely on, is myself giving myself “lessons”.
And the most successful people I knew, walked the same path as I am.
I have a friend who is a History graduate,
but he is interested in technical sales,
In the day, he does telemarketing, at night he learns how to code,
Finally, he became the vice president of sales in a startup company.
Now, he’s a CTO.
I have another friend, he received a degree in political science.
But he’s very interested in entrepreneurship.
he learnt a lot of knowledge on how to start up a company,
eventually, he founded a company and sold it,
Now he has reaped the rewards.

For them, what they do between 6 pm till 12 midnight,
is what determined their future.
Clearly, we need to balance life and work.
If you have a wife and children, every night, you have to stay with them.
Even if you are single, you also need a reasonable allocation of time to go to the gym, to meet with friends, or be alone to meditate and so on.
Of course, watching movies, playing games is good.
But there are things you do not need to do.
For example, watching the new season of a Netflix drama,
14 hours per week watching television (This is the average amount of time watching television).

The time spent playing the game Candy Crush.

Or spending time stalking your high school alumni on Facebook,
it does not seem to be good.
So what should you do?

2. Read more, anything will do!
My college mentor was born in Alabama,
A poor African family.
He was admitted to West Point Military Academy, and he became the first person in the family to go college.
Before going to Havard for his MBA, he’s a trained officer.
When I met him, he has already developed his career in the city of Colorado Springs.

I asked him, what’s his biggest success?
He replied, because he kept the habit of reading,
and he never stopped.
He believed that if you want to get what you want in life,
knowledge is the key.
He often asked his interviewees what book are they reading now,
the excellent ones can give an answer immediately.
Reading can give you a good headstart,
this is often what your peers cannot obtain.
Compared to others,
you are more likely to know other industries strategies and tactics,
and that may be helpful to your company.

You can transfer your knowledge within the organization,
create new possibilities for your company.
Moreover, your conversation topics will become more interesting.

Anthony Robbins said:
“If you spend one hour a day to learn about a topic,
a year later, in this regard,
the knowledge you gain will be more than 99.999% of the world’s people.”
Even if you have 30 minutes every night,
each week you can easily read a book.
You may not be an expert, but I promise,
you’ll know more than what your peers know.

3. Do some projects
You can apply the knowledge learnt to real work scenario,
this is only an ideal state.
If your company did not give you this opportunity,
create opportunities for yourself.
You can do some volunteer projects. They can bring you fame.
Working with a team,
you’ll understand how things work.
In the practical application of the industry,
and how it ultimately affect actual customers.
You’ll learn how to perform the task and meet deadlines,
and get feedbacks on what you are doing,
and benefit from it.

When you are not strong enough, these experience may not have any value to you.
But you are still a novice.
these experiences are far more valuable than the miserable pay you are getting.
If you can really convince others of your pockets of fruits of labour,
Then go try it. But do not let these private jobs affect your work.

4. Actively build your connections
In your career path,
a strong network of connections will make everything accelerate.
If you have not set up your own personal connections,
you’ll need to divide a portion of your time to do this.
A strong network of relationships, can enable you:
  • contact smart friends, and learn their opinions
  • get information and knowledge that are difficult to obtain
  • help the company look for more potential partners
  • or income generating opportunities
Go get to know your work colleague or boss…..

If you are an entrepreneur,
your network connections will be your early customers,
your staffs are a source of capital
rather than go home, or going to a bar,
you should find some inner circles.
There are many small groups which are highly relevant to your career.
You should try to integrate into these circles.
Every week, you can drink coffee together with new friends,
go drinking or have breakfast.

You can also look into everyone’s career developments on LinkedIn.
And establish a network with mentors in those professional industries.
They may be your next job employer, who knows?
Your connections will be your most powerful asset in the workplace.
Since you have time to watch “The Voice of China”,
you have time to build a social network.

5. The CHANGE of your LIFE starts TONIGHT
6 pm to 12 am, you go home, though physically and mentally tired,
you are free to do anything and do not have to take orders from others.
During this time,
you can switch off like switching off your computer at your workplace, switch off your brain.
But you can also do something,
make you smarter, stronger, have a wider network of people.
From the start tonight, take an hour a day to do these things,
I guarantee that after a year,

your career, and life will change.

What is the True Spirit of Renunciation?

Question to Radhanath Swami: Beautiful. I’d like to ask you about the true spirit of renunciation because it’s something a lot of us don’t understand. We think of it as just giving up things but there’s a richer side of renunciation that gives one things we can’t get from the world.
Radhanath Swami Answers: True renunciation is not becoming a monk or swami, living homeless and sleeping on the floor. True renunciation can be attained by anyone—whether a millionaire, parent, student, politician, farmer or engineer. It’s not what you have or don’t have; it’s your state of consciousness. In essence, it means that true peace that comes from true renunciation arrives when we understand that nothing is mine. Whatever intelligence I have, whatever abilities I have, whatever family members I have, whatever wealth or property I have, is the sacred property of God or the Divine. I’m a caretaker. And to use what we have, not for selfish purposes, but for service to God and service to others, is the true principle of renunciation.
It’s like when a husband thinks, “This is my wife,” or a parent thinks “This is my child.” From a spiritual perspective, this is a misconception. The higher truth is: “This wife is God’s beloved daughter, entrusted in my care. And the way I serve God is by giving her respect, protection, appreciation and empowerment. This is what God wants me to give his child.”
When we have that consciousness, whatever money we have, we believe it is entrusted to us by God for the purpose of helping human society find relief and shelter and happiness, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And we use our wealth in wonderful ways because it’s the greatest joy in life for us to see what an incredible difference we can make as an instrument of God’s grace with our talents and with our wealth. I know people who are both extremely wealthy, people who are middle class and people with little material wealth. Whatever their circumstance may be, they are every bit as renounced as monks because they have that spirit. The spirit of charity on a spiritual platform. The Bhagavad Gita explains that real wisdom is when we see every living being with equal vision. When we love God, we naturally love our neighbor as our self, as the Bible also tells us.
When we recognize how precious and truly glorious we are, then we become humbled by that and recognize everyone’s true spiritual identity. And then our greatest joy is in sharing.

Bhukthi , Mukthi and Bhakthi :)

Bhukti (material) and mukti (liberation) desires
with being influenced by the black art of a witch: in both cases one is in trouble. Bhukti means material enjoyment, and mukti means to become freed from material anxiety and to become one with the Lord. These desires are compared to being haunted by ghosts and witches, because while these aspirations for material enjoyment or spiritual oneness with the supreme remain, no one can relish the actual transcendental taste of devotional service.
A pure devotee never cares for liberation. Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu prayed to Kṛṣṇa: "My dear son of Nanda, I do not want any material happiness in the shape of many followers, nor immense opulence in wealth, nor any beautiful wife, nor do I want cessation from material existence. I may take birth many times, one after another, but what I pray from You is that my devotion unto You may always remain unflinching."

Caste System

We learnt The Caste system from Manusmrithi was based on our lifestyle and not by birth. Here is a better expansion.
Panchama Jaathi(Untouchables) One who depends on others for his living.(Parasite)
Sudra One who lives for himself and his family.
Vysya One who makes profit for himself as well as for the person with whom he is trading with.
Kshatriya One who eats after the people under him have eaten.
Brahmin One who first learns and then teaches...

5 Habits for a Celibate Monk (Vidyarthi Pancha Lakshana)

1) Kaaka Snaan (bath like a crow)
2) Baka Dhyaan ( Meditate like a Stork)
3) Alpa Bhojan ( Eat only little food)
4) Svaan Nidra ( Sleep like a Dog)
5) Videsh gaman ( always away from home)

1.Kaaka Snan: If you happen to see a crow taking bath, he is super quick. Similarly a celibate should take bath very quickly. Of course that doesn’t mean a celibate should remain unclean. What it means is we should take a good clean bath, but avoid spending a lot of time in the bathroom dealing with our body. Crow’s bath indicates for a celibate life—less time for decorating the body, and more time for nourishing the soul and decorating it with saintly qualities. Life is short.

2.Baka Dhyaan: The stork stands on one leg in a water body just waiting for the fish to pass by. His attention towards his object (fish) is one pointed. For that he is patient and determined. Stork indicates for a celibate a life of one pointed meditation on the ultimate goal.

3.Alpa Bhojan: It means eat only a little food, as much as required for keeping the body and soul together. If stomach is light, one can easily get up in the early hours of the morning and do his meditation. It will also help in dancing nicely in Kirtan. So Alpa Bhojan indicates for a celibate how to avoid laziness on the path of God consciousness.

4.Svaan Nidra: When a person overeats he oversleeps. It also leads to deep sleep where a person goes into deep modes of ignorance. A dog sleeps, but he is alert in his sleep too. Here deep sleep indicates an ignorant stage where a person keeps sleeping even if the world around is in danger. A Hindi saying goes, “Ghode bech ke sona “; paraphrased in English, it means “he has sold all his horses and now he will sleep peacefully.” So a Dog teaches a celibate the principle of balance: sufficient sleep to keep the mind stable and peaceful in awakened state. A celibate should follow the English saying, ” Sleep too much, you become lazy: Sleep too less, you become crazy”

5.Videsh Gaman: Staying away from home means a celibate should not spend too much time visiting his family and friends. His natural habitat is the Guru’s ashram, a home away from home to finally reach back home, the Lord’s abode. So Videsh Gaman teaches a celibate the principle of detachment from enamoring comforts for the body and mind available at one’s parental residence.
So wish you a happy journey on the celibacy express….do not board off at any cost once you have got a confirmed seat.

1. What are the different types of activities that one can perform?
- Materially Pious, Materially Impious and Transcendental activities
2. What is Materially Impious activity?
- Sinful activity, that which is against the scriptural injunction. This causes Material painful reactions at the present or future and one suffers immensely
3. How about Materially Pious activity?
- Material activities which are in the mode of goodness, characterized by social work with knowledge charity and compassion. This brings in materially happy reactions in the future.
4. So isnt that good?
-Yes it is. However to accept future good reactions, we have to accept another material body. This is the problem.
5. Do we have to accept material bodies even if we perform materially good work?
- Whether good activities or bad activities, material actions bring in material reactions. To accept these reactions in the form of pain or pleasure, we need to take another body
6. Why does one take repeated birth and death?
- One who fails an exam, without studying his books and sharpening the necessary skills, needs to take it again and again.
Similarly one who does not understand the aim of our life, needs to come back again and again to do the needful
7. What is the aim of life?
- We are fishes and Sri Krsna is our blue water. We are out of that water and hence are suffering. Our Aim of life is to come in contact with our source of joy, the blue waters of Sri Krsna
8. How can we approach Sri Krsna?
- Sri Krsna is all pure and if we become all pure, we can return to our eternal home(His eternal residence!)
9. Well I thought, being spirit souls, we are always pure!

10. How can we cleanse our consciousness namely mind intelligence Ego and senses?
- Mind(Man) can be purified by 'Man'tra meditation(Japa and Kirtana)
- Intelligence can be purified by reading and hearing Shastras
- Ego can be purified by co-operation and humble service to Vaishnavas
- Senses can be purified by honoring Sri Krsna Prasād!

- Krsna is light, turn away from light and you are in darkness. In darkness you dont see things as they are. Accidently you happen to step on broken glass pieces and bleed. The source of this suffering is being in darkness.
7. Is this body not for enjoyment?

4. Devotional service grants Divine bliss. The bliss that is beyond mere things, the bliss that never ends!

  18. Let's go let's move to union with GOD.

If a person comes to Krishna bhakthi and stops adding bad karma, will he be punished for past karma?

COUNSELLING:
A devotee (Name hidden by me) asked like this:
Hare Krishna. My question is if someone has done bad karma before coming to Krishna Consciousness and after that he takes KC very seriously, and tries to never commit mistakes done previously, do he will get reactions of bad karma after this life?
REPLY:
My reply is: Not an immediate YES as clean chit, but, a conditional YES.
What condition?
I will repeat this thousand times in any forum: “Unless we desert all our material attachments, we can not get the suspension of the reactions of our negative karma, and we can not enter into the kingdom of Lord”
So, if we need to get the suspension of the reactions for all our past karma, we should do the following:
1. Chant Hare Krishna as much as possible and try to remain in the thoughts of Krishna all the time. Mechanical chanting rushed to complete the rounds will not help immediately, but, you need to wait till you come to the stage of sincere chanting and thoughts of Krishna.
2. Offer food to Lord and honour them only. Avoid karmic food from outside.
3. Surrender to a guru and offer your respects to him. Be sincere to follow the instructions given by a guru. If your guru is displeased, you can not get excuse from karma. Though you accept a diksha guru, unless you chant and follow all the devotional rules, you can not get excuse from karma and can not go back to Lord.
4. COMPULSORILY follow all the wonderful four regulative principles. If not, no excuse from past sins and can not go back to Lord with indiscipline.
5. Get as much blessings as possible from vaishnavas by offering all the respects and honours to every vaishnava. This will also redduce the severity of reactions of karma.
6. Visit Krishna temples as much as possible and associate more with vaishnavas and do possible services in the temple.
If you follow the above steps for a considerable period of time, say, few years, you should come to the stage of Prema. In this stage, you will see Krishna in everything and everyone and hence you will not have any material attachments. That means, you will not like to grab any material for your pleasure, but, you will use every material in the service of Krishna.
Since you have deserted your material attachments, the karma network can not give you any reactions because, only through the materials and material relations, the Karma network gives punishments and gifts. When we see everything as Krishna and work only for Krishna, then, karma network will be unable to give you any punishments. So, you will get excuse from all your past karma.
This is the reality. Material attachments is called CONTAMINATION or IMPURITY. So, we can not enter into the world of Krishna with contaminations/ impurities and pending karma.
So, everyone of us should aim for material detachments through more attachments with Krishna.
I request all of you to keep this post separately and read many times and store. Because, this is the real and ultimate advice to stop the reactions of our karma. Kindly do not expect any relaxations from this. Because karma network is very powerful and it requires sincere spiritual advancement to succeed this powerful karma network. Only the total surrender to krishna and His prema can do this.
Please keep this in mind and start to take steps for still more development in your spiritual sadhanas and realizations.
All the best.

Handle ur mind

4 kinds of attitude you can develop to handle your own mind:
1) Friendliness: Be friendly with people who are happy. If you are not friendly with happy people, you will be jealous. This is because you think that your enemy is happy, and you cannot tolerate your enemy being happy. So, shake hands with happy people. Such an attitude does a lot of good to your mind.
2) Compassion: Do not be friendly with people who are miserable, instead, have compassion for them. If you are friendly with unhappy people you will become unhappy. And if you become unhappy, you can never help them to come out of their misery. Many people have gotten into trouble by being friendly with unhappy people; both become miserable. It is like a doctor going to a patient who is sick, and the doctor also becomes sick. If the doctor also thinks, ‘How can I alone be healthy? Let me also share the patient’s misery’, then who will help the patient then? So, what should be the attitude with people who are miserable? Compassion, not pity.
3) Happiness: For people who are doing good work or who are successful in the world, you should feel happy as though you are doing it.For example, someone is a good singer, singing and bringing joy to everybody, seeing him you should think, ‘I feel so happy that this person is singing so well, and making everyone happy.’If someone is a good entertainer and he entertains everybody you should feel happy about it. If someone is a great architect and builds beautiful buildings you should feel happy about it. Whenever someone does a good job, share that happiness with them; we need to have this attitude.
4) Indifference: For people who are doing horrible things in the society, destroying themselves, we usually get angry at them. When you are angry, your mind suffers a huge loss. You lose so much energy, you lose your mood, and your enthusiasm. When energy and enthusiasm goes away from you, you become angry and are no better than the other person. You do not know what you are doing. So, what should you do in such a situation? Have a sort of indifference in your mind. For example, there are thieves in the world, they are there, what can you do about them? First accept, be indifferent. However, this does not mean you do not take any action. Your mind is indifferent (unaffected), but you act on it.These are the four attitudes that will help us to save our mind. This is what we need to do, save our mind at all costs.

Why doesn't Krishna protect us from falling into the material world?

Srila Prabhupada - ” So, even in the Vaikuntha, if I desire that ‘Why shall I serve Krishna? Why not become Krishna?’ I immediately fall down. That is natural. A servant is serving the master, but sometimes he may think that, “If I could be come the master.” They are thinking like that; they are trying to become God. That is delusion. You cannot become God. That is not possible. But he’s wrongly thinking”.

Vipina Purandara - “Why doesn’t Krishna protect us from that desire?

Srila Prabhupada - “He’s protecting. He says, “You rascal, don’t desire. Surrender unto Me.” But you are rascal; you do not do this”.

Vipina Purandara - “Why doesn’t He save me from thinking like that?

Srila Prabhupada - “That means you lose your independence. That is force, in Bengali it is said, ‘If you catch one girl or boy, ‘You love me, you love me, you love me.’ ” Is it love? “You love me, otherwise I will kill you!’ Is that love? So Krishna does not want to become a lover like that, on the point of revolver. ‘You love me, otherwise I shall kill you!’ That is not love; that is threatening. Love is reciprocal, voluntary, good exchange of feeling. Then there is love. Not by force; that is rape. Why one is called lover, another is called rape?” July 8, 1976 in Washington, D.C

The following Conversation took place in Melbourne, Australia June 25, 1974 between Srila Prabhupada and his disciples.

Devotee – “When we are in the spiritual sky and serving Krishna, we have a perfect relationship with Krishna, what causes us to fall down in the material world, because we’re already serving Krishna?”

Srila Prabhupada – “Because you desire to fall down. Here it is explained that “Don’t fall down.”

Devotee – “Srila Prabhupada, I can’t understand why we should have an impure desire when we are already serving…”

Srila Prabhupada – “Because you have got little freedom. Why one is not coming here and going to the liquor shop? It is his desire.

Devotee – “In the Srimad-Bhagavatam, it says that Krishna did not want us to come to this material world. If Krishna did not want us to come, why are we here?”

Srila Prabhupada – “Yes. You forced Krishna to allow you to come. Just like sometimes a child forces his father. Father says, “My dear son, do not do this. Do not go there.” But he insists, “Oh, I must go. I must go.” “All right, you go at your risk. That’s all. And you suffer. What can be done?” Because you are Son of God you have got independence, full independence, almighty—therefore you have acquired the quality of your father. You have got little independence. So God does not interfere with your little independence. If you persist that “I must go and enjoy independently,” so God says, “All right, you can go.” This is the position. You have to take sanction. That is a fact. But when you persist, God sanctions. And you come and enjoy”.

Why only Krishna Consciousness, not Ram Consciousness or Vishnu Consciousness?

how lord rama, vishnu, buddha, narsimdev, all his avtars came from krishna?as ram came earlier to earth, why he is not taken as main ,,why krsna is head to them?theirs avtars?...at the time of rama avtar people may dont kno krsna bcoz of unpresence of him on rama avtar days and at that time ram may b taken as god head or 1st avtar of ram may b godhead..then how krsna is greater to all avtars..if u reply prabhu ji then my confusion on avtars and its headgod will b clear..thank u..hare krsna
why not ram concious, vishnu concious is there as all r equal n r one..any mistake from me then plz forgive me prabhu ji..radhe radhe
REPLY:
I don’t know whether you feel for not popularizing other avatars or for projecting only Krishna much.  But, your doubt comes in everyone’s mind though it is innocent one.
Of course, only Krishna form is projected much all over.  No doubt.  But, there are reasons.
Let us consider a family in which there are 4-5 children.  Though all children are equal for parents, they enjoy the activities of a particular child who is the naughtiest one.  If a child is always doing something and another one is soft natured and calm, which one will get more attention of others? Naturally the naughty child.
Similarly, Krishna’s lilas are filled with all kinds of rasas.  If anyone likes tatva, Krishna has it and He has given ultimate preachings for the betterment of people;  If anyone likes childhood plays, Krishna has shown them abundantly;  If anyone likes love, they can enjoy reading the love of gopis on Krishna. If anyone is interested in renunciation, they can follow Krishna who remained in a renounced state even with His 1000s of wives and who left this planet like a renounced person after His purpose is over on earth.  If anyone likes poking/ pranking, Krishna has many stories about them. If anyone likes to know how a guru-disciple relation will be, they can know them from the approach of Arjuna to Krishna in the battle field.
Thus, you can get whatever rasas from Krishna.  That is why, Krishna is considered as POORNA AVATAR.  Just because He is poorna avatar, we do not call Him as an avatar, but, the DESCENDENCE OF ORIGINAL SUPREME PERSON AS HE IS TO EARTH.
Krishna came to earth as Lord Rama after hiding some of His qualities.  That is why, Lord Rama did not remember that He was Vishnu Himself. And, Lord Rama wanted to set an example for how a kshatriya should be. He established the actual kshatriya dharma which states that a kshatriya/ king should give importance only to His people when there is a choice between His own wife and country’s people.  In Rama avatar, Lord had hidden most of His lilas and He exposed only those rasas that are required for the purpose of His visit.
Other avatars of Lord Vishnu/ Krishna came here for a certain purpose.  They came suddenly, fulfilled their purpose of their visits and left immediately.
Only in Krishna avatar, Lord showed all His potencies, vaibhavs, rasas, etc.  Krishna behaved exactly similar to His activities in Goloka.  He did not hide any of His qualities while coming to earth.  So, though Krishna’s name is also included in avatars, He is Purna avatar, ie, exactly the same Krishna who is existing in Goloka.
That is why, we speak about Krishna much.  This does not mean we reduce the importance of Rama and other avatars.  There are more rasas/ vaibhavs/ lilas to speak about Krishna.  Thats all.
All the avatars of Vishnu/ Krishna have same importance.  As Krishna is a complete avatar, we have so many things to discuss about Him.
Of course, the people during Lord Rama’s period knew only about Rama as you say, but, even those days many intelligent people and rishis were there who were speaking about the avatars of Vishnu and even future avatars such as Krishna, Kalki, etc.  Even now, we are speaking about Kalki though that avatar has not yet happened.  Similarly, rishis and intelligent people had known about the future avatars also.  And, after Krishna avatar, recently the printing technology came to exist and hence we have so many books to read about avatars now.  Those days had no such facilities and they heard everything from rishis and brahmanas only.
Your another query.  Though Krishna came here late after Rama avatar, He need not hide His qualities.  Do you expect that only the elder son should be a naughty child?  Cant the last child be a naughty child? we have seen that most of the youngest children in a family happen to be naughty ones.  Even elder brother enjoy the plays of his last brother.
Similarly, Krishna avatar is complete avatar though He came after Rama.  Some avatars have hidden their original qualities while coming to earth thats all.  Krishna showed all the original qualities as it is.  Thats all.
Hope you are clear.
