*Krishna Appreciates Persistent, Constant and Patient Efforts of Devotee*

Hare Krishna.

Gopi’s mad attraction for Krishna, the haste, the eagerness, their surrender is very much appreciated in the Srimad Bhagavatam because they were ready to throw away all other material shelters only to run to Krishna’s lotus feet. In the same manner you will find a new devotee in Krishna consciousness, who has developed a great eagerness to dedicate his life practically runs away from mother father and brothers, sisters, they may be crying, they may be shouting. Relatives may be giving different types of material upadesh to stay in the material world. They have a kind of great vigor and fire with which the boy may leave all the relatives behind, and with great faith in Krishna’s lotus feet he comes running to surrender his life. It is very similar to the gopis running away from all material shelters and running to Krishna’s lotus feet. But then in the forest, although Krishna played flute and talked to them, eventually engage them in rasa dance, but he disappeared from their sight. So, earlier they had one material shelter. Now they attain Krishna’s spiritual shelter but then Krishna vanished from their site, leaving the gopis behind weeping. You will see that kind of disappearance from their sight did not deter the enthusiasm of the gopis, they continued glorifying him through the gopi gitam. And they were willing to practice the devotional service in separation.

Later on, also, you will see when Akrur came to Vrindavan he took away from Vrindavan separating Krishna from vrijvasis and  gopis, not just for one or two years, practically, almost 114 years. Krishna left at the age of eleven, and vrijavasis saw him at the age of 125. So this long duration of separation did not make the gopis forget Krishna, Krishna didn't become irrelevant in their lives. Krishna didn't become useless in their lives. Krishna didn't become disconnected from their lives. Or they didn't become interested in some alternative engagement, or in another lover, whom they may feel that he's more easily, accessible, available and more reliable and trustworthy because the gopis love for Krishna is not mundane.

Therefore, even though 114 years were spent by them everyday morning rising and hoping that “ayo re”, He said, I will come back. With that expectation they were cooking, and always looking at the road, coming from Mathura into Vrindavan, hoping that one day he will come and he wouldn't come, so they would cry. And again next morning they would have similar expectations, hope after hope they had.

Similarly, if a devotee after spending many years, you will see that the beads that we received from the spiritual master are very crude and rough at the time of initiation time but afterwards you chant and chant and chant it become polished like a pearl after 10 20 30 40 50 years. So, one should look back and see that so many years of committed mangal artis committed bhagavatam classes, committed chanting of the holy name, and commitment at the lotus feet of the guru. And a devotee has faithfully remained loyal to this 16 rounds of chanting, without giving it up, without turning away from it, and going for some alternative methods or going for some alternative shelters. So that itself is glorious.

So the persistent, the constant, the patient efforts of the devotee are far more appreciated by Krishna than the initial instant thrill. Because instant thrill many people show instant tears also many people show, but one who is very patient and persistent and who is constantly practicing devotional service
teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam, similar He says yatantaś ca dṛḍha-vratāḥ, So from Krishna’s words itself we can see, Krishna is testing how His devotees behave in separation from him. So they are the devotees who are going to get Krishna, at the end, because of their sincerity and patience, not those who made an initial thrill and showing some tears, or showing some tears, or showing some hair standing on end and then they get into another business, other than Krishna.

So therefore the chanting of the holy name, sometimes may produce regret in us that I have no taste for the holy name, I have no concentration, I have big struggle, but that regret should not turn into hopelessness and lamentation, rather the regret should turn into positive energy as it happened in the case of Lord Chaitanya durdaivam idrasham ihajani na anuragah, when he says this He doesn't say durdaivam and gives up the chanting and goes away. Rather, it increases his energy to doubly surrender, doubly commit himself, and even run after Krishna, increasing attraction for Krishna even million times more. Therefore He says shunyaitam jagat sarvam Govind virahena me.

*Harinaam Prabhu ki Jai!!!*
