Money or BhagavadGita

TRUE STORY

*Many years ago, on a Festival Day, a very Rich Man who had no wife, no children, no other family members, decided to invite all the employees of his Mansion to dinner.*

*He called the staff and asked them to sit at the table.*

*In front of everyone there was a BhagavadGeeta and a small sum of MONEY.*

*After everyone had their dinner, the Rich Man asked:*

*"What would you prefer to receive as a gift: this Geethaa or this MONEY?*

*Do not be shy, you can choose what you want. "*

*THE SECURITY GUARD WAS THE FIRST TO REACT:*

*"Sir, I would love to receive the Geeta, but since I have not learned to read, the money will be more useful to me."*

*THE GARDENER WAS THE SECOND TO SPEAK:*

*"Sir, my wife is very sick and that's why I need more money, otherwise I would choose the Bhagavadgeeta for sure!"*

*THE THIRD WAS THE COOK:*

*"Sir, I like reading to tell the truth, it's one of the things I like to do, but I work so hard that I never find time to flip through a magazine, let alone the Bhagavadgeeta. I will take the money. "*

*IN THE END, IT WAS THE turn OF THE BOY WHO TAKES CARE OF THE ANIMALS OF THE MANSION.*

*And as the Rich Gentleman of the villa knew that the boy's family was very poor, he stepped forward and said:*

*"Surely you too want the money, do you not?  So that  you can buy food to have a good dinner at home and buy new shoes? "*

BUT THE BOY,

as for him, surprised everybody with his answer:

*"It would not hurt to buy  tasty food to share with my parents and siblings. I also need a pair of new shoes because mine are very old. Even so, I will choose the Bhagavadgeeta because  I have always wanted one. My mother taught me that the Word of God is worth more than gold and that it is more tasty than a honeycomb."*

*After receiving the Bhagavadgeeta, the boy immediately opened it.  He found TWO ENVELOPES inside.*

*In the first, there was a CHEQUE  that was 10 TIMES  higher than the money on the table.*

*In the second, there was a DOCUMENT (Will)  that made him (whoever would choose the Bhagavadgeeta), the HEIR to all the wealth of the Rich Man!*

*Faced with the Boy's emotion and the astonishment of the other servants, the Rich Gentleman opened one of  the Bhagavadgeeta and read aloud so that everyone could hear:*

*The law of the LORD is perfect, it restores the soul;*

*The testimony of the Lord is true, he makes wise the ignorant.*

*The ordinances of the LORD are righteous, they rejoice the heart;*

*The commandments of the Lord are pure, they light up the eyes.*

*The fear of the Lord is pure, it subsists forever;*

*The judgments of the Lord are true, they are all just.*

  *They are more precious than gold, than a lot of fine gold; They are sweeter than honey, than the one that pours rays.*

*May God give us Wisdom and help us always to make the Right Choice.*

అమ్మ సేవ - Service to Mother

తాజా పళ్లు తీసుకుందామనుకున్న నాకు రద్దీ గా ఉన్న నాలుగు రోడ్ల కూడలిలో ఓ పళ్ళ దుకాణం కనపడింది, దుకాణం లో రకరకాల తాజా పళ్ళు ఉన్నాయి, కానీ దుకాణం యజమాని మాత్రం ఎక్కడా కనడలేదు,పళ్ళ రేటు రాసి ఉన్న కాగితం మాత్రం ఆయా పళ్ళ మీద ఉంది,  దుకాణం మధ్య లో ఓ అట్టముక్క వ్రేలాడుతూ నా దృష్టి ని ఆకర్షించింది, కుతూహలం తో దానిపై ఏమి రాయబడి ఉందోనని చూసాను, దానిమీద "అయ్యా! నా తల్లిగారికి ఆరోగ్యం సరిగ్గా లేనందున నేను ఆమె సేవ చేయుటకు సదా ఆమె దగ్గర ఉండవలసి ఉన్నది, కావున మీరు మీకు కావలసిన పళ్ళు తీసుకుని దానికి తగ్గ డబ్బు ను ఈ గళ్ళా పెట్టె లో వేయగలరు అని ఉంది.. 

నాకు ఆశ్చర్యం అనిపించింది, ఈకాలం లో కూడా ఇలాంటి అమాయకులు ఉంటారా? అని, దొంగలు ఆ గల్లా పెట్టె ను ఎత్తుకెళితే ఇతని పరిస్థితి ఏంటి? ఇతని అమాయకత్వానికి నాకు నవ్వు వచ్చింది, ఎలాగైనా ఇతనికి ఇలా చేయకూడదు అని గట్టిగా చెప్పాలి అని నిర్ణయించుకొని సాయంత్రం అతను డబ్బు తీసుకునుటకు దుకాణం కు వస్తాడు కదా అని నేను కూడా సాయంత్రం మళ్ళీ పళ్ళ దుకాణం కు చేరుకున్నాను, పళ్ళ దుకాణం యజమాని వచ్చి గల్లా పెట్టెను తీసుకుని  దుకాణం కట్టి వేస్తున్నాడు, నేను అతని దగ్గరికి వెళ్లి నన్ను నేను పరిచయం చేసుకుని నీవు ఎంత తెలివి తక్కువ పని చేస్తున్నావో తెలుసా? ఎవరైనా దొంగలు నీ గల్లా పెట్టె ను ఎత్తుకెళితే ఎలా? పళ్ళ ను ఊరికే తీసుకుపోతే ఎలా? అని మందలించబోయాను, అందుకు అతను చిరునవ్వుతో" అంతా దైవేచ్ఛ " అన్నాడు మళ్ళీ అతనే అయ్యా! మొదట్లో నేను నా తల్లి గారితో మీలాగే అడిగాను, నేను నీ సేవలో ఉంటే దుకాణం పరిస్థితి ఎలా? అని, అందుకు మా అమ్మ "నాయనా! నాకు రోజులు దగ్గర పడ్డాయి, రోజూ నిన్ను చూడకుండా ఉండలేను, నేను ఆ దేవున్ని ప్రార్ధిస్తాను, నీవు నేను చెప్పిన విధంగా చేయి, అని చెప్పింది, అమ్మ చెప్పినట్టుగానే ఆరోజు నుండి   ఈవిధంగా చేస్తున్నాను అన్నాడు, 

మరి నీకు ఏనాడూ నష్టం రాలేదా? అని అడిగాను కుతూహలం ఆపుకోలేక.. 

అతను అదే చిరునవ్వుతో "నష్టమా??? 

ఒకసారి ఈ గల్లా పెట్టె ను చూడండి అని అతని గల్లాపెట్టె ను తెరచి చూపించాడు, ఆశ్చర్యం! 

గల్లాపెట్టె నిండా డబ్బు! 

దుకాణం లోని పళ్ళ విలువ కంటే పదింతలు ఎక్కువగా ఉంటుంది,

ఇవి చూడండి అని దుకాణం లో రకరకాల వస్తువులు చూపాడు.. 

వాటిలో చీరలు, బట్టలు,స్వెట్టర్లు,అప్పుడే వండుకుని తెచ్చిన పులావు, రకరకాల తినుబండారాలు.... 

అన్నింటిపైన "భయ్యా! అమ్మీజాన్ కు మా తరపున ఇవ్వండి" అని రాసిన కాగితాలు ఉన్నాయి.

అంకుల్ అమ్మను నా ఆసుపత్రి కి తీసుకురాగలరు, నేను అమ్మకు ఉచితంగా వైద్యం చేయగలను అని ఓ డాక్టర్  తన విజిటింగ్ కార్డు ను ఓ కాగితానికి కట్ఠి దుకాణం లో వ్రేలాడదీసి వెళ్ళాడు..

ఇదంతా చూసిన నాకు కళ్ళ వెంబడి నీళ్ళాగడం లేదు,

సమాజమంతా స్వార్థం తో నిండిపోయింది, మంచితనం మచ్చుకైనా కనిపించడం లేదు అన్న నా భావన పటాపంచలైనట్టయింది, 

సమాజం లో మంచితనం ఇంకా బ్రతికే ఉంది, ముందు మన దృక్పథం లో మార్పు రావాలి, 

తల్లికి సేవచేస్తున్నందుకు గాను సాక్షాత్తు ఆ దేవుడే స్వయంగా అతని దుకాణం కు కాపలా కాస్తున్నాడు.. 

ఎంతగా కోపగించుకున్నా తిరిగి మనపై కోప్పడనిది సృష్టి లో ఎవరైనా ఉన్నారంటే అదిఒక అమ్మ ఒక్కటే! 

అమ్మ కు చేసిన సేవ ఎప్పటికీ నిరర్ధకం కాదు. Very Good message,everyone should read it

Moksha Patam

This children's game is considered to have been created by the 13th century poet saint Gyandev. The British later named it Snakes and Ladders instead of the original Moksha Patam.
In the original one hundred square game board, the 12th square was faith, the 51st square was reliability, the 57th square was generosity, the 76th square was knowledge, and the 78th square was asceticism. These were the squares where the ladders were found and one could move ahead faster.
The 41st square was for disobedience, the 44th square for arrogance, the 49th square for vulgarity, the 52nd square for theft, the 58th square for lying, the 62nd square for drunkenness, the 69th square for debt, the 84th square for anger, the 92nd square for greed, the 95th square for pride, the 73rd square for murder and the 99th square for lust. These were the squares where the snake waited with its mouth open. The 100th square represented Nirvana or Moksha.
The tops of each ladder depict a God, or one of the various heavens (kailasa, vaikuntha, brahmaloka) and so on. As the game progressed various actions were supposed to take you up and down the board as in life.

*The Leaking Bucket*

1. You're a very religious person following divine path but you don't lower your gaze when you see a member of the opposite gender. (A leaking bucket)

2. You wake up early morning trying to do your Pooja / Path but your mind is elsewhere and before you know it, you're done with your prayers (A leaking bucket)

3. You're very kind to outsiders/people in general and speak with them gently but with your own family you're always harsh/rude. (A leaking bucket)

4. You honour and treat your guests well but when they leave, you gossip about them and talk about their flaws. (A leaking bucket)

5. You try to read as much religious books, listen to Satsang /Keertan, participate in social services/ Sewa but you swear,  insult, curse daily. (A leaking bucket)

6. You help others but you're doing it to gain something in return from them and not doing those acts of kindness selflessly. (A leaking bucket)

7. You frequently advice/preach others on religious matters but practice none yourself.

8. You slander other devout persons out of hatred/spite when your views do not meet one another. (A leaking bucket)

9. You look down on others and feel more superior than them, judging their level of knowledge about religion based on external appearances (A leaking bucket) 

_We struggle to fill our Jeevans (the bucket) with Kamaayi of religious knowledge (the water), hoping it will retain inside but it is leaked by the many flaws (the holes) that we commit daily._

An excellent reminder for all, to try and patch these holes up so we may progress further on this beautiful path of life.

Between *October 13, 2019 and November 12, 2019* we are having Kartik/Damodar month. This is the month in which Krishna was bound to a mortar using a rope by his mother Yashoda. There are many pastimes during this month. During the Damodar month, if one performs even a small devotional service, the effects are multiplied many times. Following is a list of some of the glories of Damodar month. The glories have been taken from various Vedic scriptures.

1) Just as there is no yuga equal to Satya-yuga, no scripture equal to the Vedas, and no place of pilgrimage equal to the Ganges, so there is no month equal to Kartika. Even unserious persons who execute devotional service according to the regulative principles during the month of Karttika, and within the jurisdiction of Mathura (or Vrindavana) in India, are very easily awarded the Lord's personal service". During the Kartika month millions of devotees worship Damodara Krishna with ghee lamps and devotional bhajans, glorifying His playful childhood pastime of stealing yogurt.

2) "When one offers a lamp during the month of Karttika, his sins in many thousands and millions of births perish in half an eye blink."

3) "Please hear the glories of offering a lamp during pleasing to Lord Kesava. O King of brahmanas, a person who offers a lamp in this way will not take birth again in this world."

4) "By offering a lamp during the month of Karttika one attains a pious result ten million times greater than the result obtained by bathing at Kuruksetra during a solar eclipse or by bathing in the river Narmada during a lunar eclipse."

5) "O Tiger among sages! For a person who thus offers a lamp burning with ghee or sesame oil, what is the use of performing an asvasmedha-yajna?"

6) "Even if there are no mantras, no pious deeds, and no purity, everything becomes perfect when a person offers a lamp during the month of Karttika." 

This is just tip of the iceberg.

*What do we do?*

We bring Damodar deity to your place and offer ghee lamps. All we need is a small table to setup an altar. You can invite your friends and relatives for the program so that they can also benefit. We perform a kirtan while everyone performs arati and we have a small class for about 15 minutes. Then we take some prasadam and answer any questions the devotees might have. The whole program does not take more than 30 minutes. This is a great way to spread mercy to your friends and relatives.

*What do you need to do?*

You do not have to do anything except to invite your friends and relatives and spread the mercy. We can schedule the time to perform the program at your convenience any time of the day during this month. We will bring everything with us and we do this for *FREE*.
