*Sri Balarama Jayanthi - Sunday, 26th Aug 2018*

On the auspicious appearance day of Lord Sri Balarama, let us try to hear some of His glories while we Fast Till Noon,

🔅 Bala means spiritual strength; Rama means one who gives all pleasures.

🔅 He is elder brother of Lord Sri Krishna. As the elder brother of Krishna, Balarama is the object of Krishna’s love and respect.

🔅 No one can approach Krishna without first getting the mercy of Balarama.

🔅 He is the eternal companion of Sri Krishna. He came as Lakshmana with Rama and later as Nityananda Prabhu with Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

🔅 Born on the full-moon day of Shravana (August) at Gokul.

🔅 Son of Rohini and Vasudeva, seventh child in the womb of Devaki.

🔅 He is also known as Baladeva, Sankarshana, Rohini-nandana and _Douji_.

🔅 He wears blue garments and a garland of forest flowers.

🔅 He married Srimathi Revati Devi, daughter of King Raivata.

🔅 He was equally affectionate to both the Pandavas and the Kauravas.

🔅 He accepted both Duryodhana and Bhima as His disciples.

🔅 He chastised Kauravas by dragging Hastinapura (New Delhi) into the Ganges by His plow.

🔅 At the time of Mahabharata, He refused to take sides and instead went on an extended pilgrimage to the holy places.

🔅 He killed demon Dhenukasura, a powerful ass in Talavana, one of the twelve forests of Vrindavana.

🔅 He killed demon Pralambasura, who was disguised as a cowherd boy.

🔅 He Killed Dvivida, the Gorilla demon at Raivataka Mountain.

🔅 He killed demon Balvala at forest of Naimisharanya.

🔅 He killed proud Romaharshana by touching him with a blade of grass at Naimisharanya.

🔅 He gives us spiritual strength to cross over the problems in our journey of spiritual life.

🔅 He is the original spiritual master, and any one desiring to make spiritual progress must first get the mercy of Lord Balarama.

🔅 Devotees fast till noon and pray to Lord Balarama to bestow the spiritual strength needed to practice spiritual life.

*🙏All glories to Lord Sri Balarama !!*
