Lord Krishna explains the causes, effects and the way to curb Lust in the Bhagavad-gita:
2.62: Lust develops from contemplation on the sense objects
2.62: Lust leads to anger
3.37: Lust is born due to contact with mode of passion
3.37: Lust is the all-devouring sinful enemy of the living entity
3.38: Lust covers everyone to different degrees
3.39: Lust is never satisfied and burns life fire
3.40: Senses, the mind and intelligence are the sitting places of lust
3.40: Lust covers real knowledge of living entity and bewilders him
3.41: Lust can be curbed by regulating senses, knowledge and self-realization
3.43: Lust can be conquered by acquiring spiritual strength by Krishna consciousness
15.5: Unless one is free from lust one can’t surrender to the Lord
16.8: Demoniac think that lust is the only cause of this world
16.10: Demoniac take shelter of lust and are hence attached to impermanence
16.11: Being absorbed in lust, demoniac secure money by illegal means for sense gratification
16.18: Bewildered by lust, demoniac become envious of the Supreme Lord and real religion
16.21: Lust leads to hell and degradation of the soul; a sane man must give it up
17.5: Being impelled by lust, demoniac perform austerities unauthorized by scriptures
18.51: One can attain self-realization only if he becomes free from lust
